Engage Toronto exists to amplify the voices of residents, strengthen local democracy, and ensure that the people who live in Toronto’s neighbourhoods have real influence over the decisions that shape them.

We encourage residents to actively engage in public consultations, communicate their views to city staff and elected representatives and take part in municipal elections with the confidence that their voices and votes matter.

Local democracy only works when participation is accessible, informed and meaningful.

Engage Toronto supports sensible, measured and context-sensitive growth and development that respects local scale and context, respects established and stable neighbourhoods, reinforces what works and addresses real needs without forcing inappropriate development where it does not belong.

Toronto is not a single community, it is hundreds of distinct neighbourhoods, each with its own history, physical character, opportunities and infrastructure constraints.

Engage Toronto rejects one-size-fits-all decision-making and advocates for greater decentralization so local residents have genuine influence over their local areas.

We encourage the formation and growth of resident groups and associations (both neighbourhood-based and city-wide issue-specific groups) and support active participation as a constructive alternative to top-down policymaking.

Organized, informed communities are essential to good governance.

Policies should serve communities, not override them.
